A lot of humidity during the warm summernights on the valley floor, where the garde is situated. Susceptible plants like most pumpkins and cucumbers can`t resist the funghi in this climate.
Amarant season
We tried some Amaranth on a 5 squaremeter patch without topsoil. The plants on one edge got access to good soil which explains the difference in growth. What was worth harvesting gave us about one liter of seeds. The rest was simply covered with straw for green manure.
Curious Cucumbers
Two resistant varieties of cucumber were giving us easy yield and interesting flavors.
